Charlotte Sports Park, an 82-acre major spring training and
community sports facility in Port Charlotte, underwent extensive
repairs after Hurricane Ian caused wind and flood damage in
September 2022. The reconstruction included new stadium lighting,
replacement roofs, rebuilt interiors, and restoration of several buildings
including the main stadium structure. The Wharton-Smith, Inc.
contracted project was completed in January 2024, enabling the
Tampa Bay Rays to return for their spring training season in February
2024.
